Semi-permanent eyebrow makeup technique is not a new concept, however, it has gained in popularity and become more accessible to everyone and not just celebrities and the elite.
If you are looking for perfectly equal eyebrows – precision, definition and a good shape as well as a natural colour without a time-consuming morning regime then this is the answer for you.
Here’s what you need to know about semi-permanent eyebrows, the pros and cons and exactly what is involved; before you book an appointment, trust us you won’t be disappointed.
What are semi‐permanent eyebrows?
It’s a process where the shape and colour that you’d prefer your eyebrows to be is marked out and then tattooed on or micro-blading eyebrows as it is sometimes known as.
Whether you are looking for a more defined brow after years of over plucking those unwanted hairs, or something to fill in the gaps and add more definition and give you the shape you have always dreamed of having, semi-permanent eyebrows are the solution for you.
Done right, even close up you will barely be able to tell the difference between what’s real and what has been carefully crafted by our super talented semi-permanent makeup artist – Just Jade!
And the best thing is you get to wake up every day with perfect eyebrows, no need to hide your brows ever again.
Who is it suitable for?
Tattooed Eyebrows Semi Permanent treatment is suitable for most women, except in the following cases:
- If you are pregnant
- If you are breastfeeding your child
- If you have blood disorders
- If you are taking certain medications, like blood thinners, for instance.
Just Jade offers a free consultation, however, we strongly recommend that you also check with your GP.
What does it involve?
After a half hour of consultation session during which you will choose the colour and the shape of your eyebrow, you will be first asked to take a patch test. Once that is done and both colour and shape are to your liking, the Just Jade will get started.
Local anaesthesia will be applied to the area around your eyes before the procedure begins. The treatment will involve shaping and tinting your eyebrow based on the model with a tool that resembles an Epi-Pen. The tattoo pen will be used to add micro “brushstrokes”, which look like natural hair, hence why it is sometimes known as micro-blading.
The process can be slightly painful however the procedure doesn’t last very long.
Pros and Cons
- Once you get semi-permanent eyebrows, they can last for up to two years, no hassle, no effort perfect eyebrows every day.
- Even though a numbing agent is applied to the eyebrow area, you may feel some discomfort and pain.
- Your new eyebrows will look fresh every day with minimal maintenance required.
- Your eyebrows might look darker than usual for the first few days but that will change as they gradually get lighter.
- The resulting look is completely natural compared to traditional permanent and non-permanent makeup.
- You can go back to work straight afterwards, so there is a minimum of downtime for you.
Aftercare
Just Jade will provide aftercare instructions when your treatment is finished, you will also receive an aftercare balm as well, to help the area heal and maximise the treatment. Taking care of your semi-permeant eyebrows is not challenging or time-consuming, they just require a little TLC.
In general, your eyebrows will generally heal in about 3-7 days and 10-14 days under the surface.
Also, Just Jade recommends not exposing the skin to extreme heat, cold or moisture and to avoid wearing makeup in the affected area for a few days unless it is mineral cosmetics. Avoid the sun if you can or use high sun factor suntan lotion if you must go out during the healing phase.
How long will my semi-permanent eyebrows last?
The results of the semi-permanent eyebrows procedure will start to fade gradually. More pigment will be added to the area, which lightens up as your skin tries to “heal the damage”.
You will need a colour boost after 15 months or so. If you don’t get any retouching done, then the look will last for more than 2-3 years.
Of course, other factors also come into play, such as:
- What your skin type is
- How much sun exposure you get daily
- Your lifestyle type
So a top up is the most important part of the semi-permanent makeup/micro blading procedure and a colour boost on your faded brows will help keep them looking gorgeous year after year.
